  1. What are the International Prepaid Visa/MasterCard, Maestro and Money Line (CashMaster) or MLCM cards?

The International prepaid Visa/MasterCard, Maestro and MoneyLine (Cash Master) cards are payment account cards that can be used to access cash, to make purchase of any product anywhere Visa/MasterCard, Maestro and MLCM are accepted or carryout money transfer. Money is deposited into these cards through approved loading and merchant locations all over the globe. You can access your money through ATM, POS terminals based on approved daily withdrawals, through any branches of UBN or appointed merchants or by using your card just like any Visa/MasterCard, Maestro and MLCM card at any merchant that accepts any of the card brand. You can also make payments on the Web to approved Merchants all over the world.
   

  1. Are these prepaid cards safe?

Yes, because access to funds on account are only accessible through secret PINs known and fixed by you at point of activating card for use even when the   international prepaid cards are accepted at millions of locations worldwide and the MLCM in most African countries. Wherever these prepaid cards are accepted, you not only get their purchasing power, but you will never have to pay interest or late fee payments. You also determine how much to store on the cards with privilege to fix what limits should be allowed on the various channels depending on your risk preference.

  1. What information is needed to process my Personalized Named card application?
    You need to provide any of Union Bank Branches or   Authorized Agents  with the relevant required information by completing the application form with a copy of a government ID such as a passport, driver’s license or national identity card; Or alternatively, complete the named card online application form and scan copies of your relevant required identification document online as specified in the Card application portal  or  scan and send to  customerservices@unionbankng.com

 

  1. What is the process of acquiring an Instant Issue Card?

An Instant issue  card is simply a prepaid card of Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and MLCM card that can be obtained instantly by cardholder at any of Union Bank Branches or our Agents/Merchants located anywhere in the wiorld.Depending on the Card type, Cardholder can go into the programme portal to personalize card and provide KYC documents as required based on limits and privileges that come with the card.. To activate your card, complete the Instant Issue card online application form on the programme portal and scan KYC documents as specified for card type.. Your name and address will be linked to the card electronically.

 

  1. How do I login to my Stallion Visa /MasterCard/MoneyLine(CashMaster) acrd account?
    Logging in requires you to simply  click the link
    http://220.226.206.89:8080/Portal/WebPages/CustomerPortal/Login.jsp 
    and enter in your card number and your registered PIN for access.

 

  1. Are there any fees and funding Limits associated with using these prepaid cards?

Yes there are fees and funding limits associated with the card usage and funding. You can find the fees and funding limits through the Union Bank Branches, Union Bank approved Agents/Merchants or authorised card provider through whom you obtained your card.

  1. Can I apply for more than one of these prepaid cards?

Yes, you can apply for each of the different generic prepaid cards of your choice in the currency that you desire.

  1. How long does it take to obtain any of the cards?

For all named cards, it will take approximately three weeks to be delivered from date of order. For Instant issue cards, you can obtain it from any of the Branches of Union Bank, Union Bank approved Agents/Merchants or authorized card provider located anywhere in the world.

  1. Will these cards rebuild my credit ratings?

These cards are not linked to any credit reference agency in International environment and therefore will not improve your credit rating. However card type approval is tied to the prerogative of the Bank based information provided by cardholder under the programme.

  1. Can these cards be issued to applicants from any country?

Yes, these cards are international / local distributed and accepted worldwide cards and the issuing bank offering this programme with the card processor are highly astute in ensuring the compliance of Visa/MasterCard and Maestro and the bank bylaws and so countries which have been blacklisted by OFAC are exempted from this programme.

  1. What are the advantages of these prepaid cards from other prepaid cards issued by other financial institution?

 

The prepaid cards are unique because they can perform the following functions:

  • Card to card transfer from one generic card to a different generic card. This provides a terrific cost effective money transfer tool amongst friends, family and associations.
  • Up to 4 secondary cards (e.g an additional card for your spouse, children etc) can be purchased.These cards can also linked where desirable.
  • Worldwide network loading availability for loading of cards at Union Bank Branches, partner Banks and Union Bank approved Agents/Merchants or card providers.
  • Top up of all cards using scratch cards loading mechanism.
  • Availability of transactions like card to cash, card to account, etc.
  • Loyalty attached to all card programs. You acquire points that while you use your cards.
  • The international prepaid cards are available in three major currencies: Pounds, Dollar and Euro, while the MLCM cards are available on all currencies of the world.
  • Availability of online exchange rate conversion factor for all transfers.
  • You can also make points which are cashable as you introduce other cardholders into the programme.
  • You can also do Money Transfer and collect proceeds of Money Transfer through our various outlets worldwide.
  • The Bank has incentive payments based on amounts outstanding on card balance.The details are as specified o the programme Website.

      

  1. What am I to do when I receive my prepaid card from the mail or post?

The first step is to sign the back of the card. The next will be to activate the card by simply clicking the link http://220.226.206.89:8080/Portal/WebPages/CustomerPortal/Login.jspand enter in your card number and your registered PIN for access including any other information which may be required as per card type. You can also activate your card through any of Union Bank Branches, Union Bank authorized Agents/merchants or card provider. Once the card is successfully activated, you can immediately load the card for use.
      

  1. How can I load my UBN prepaid card?

All UBN issued prepaid cards can be loaded locally at all Union Bank branches and appointed agents/merchants local and international.

  1. What happens if I use up the loaded amount in my card?

 

The prepaid card issued by UBN are reloadable cards which allows you to load a maximum of your card default value per day from any of the loading stations or total default value if the amount in the card is completely utilised

  1. Can I withdraw money from an ATM? How does it work?
    Your prepaid Visa/master/maestro and MLCM cards can be used at all ATMs where these cards are accepted. Simply ensure that you have sufficient funds on your card for the transaction you are conducting or your card will be declined.

 

  1. Can I shop online or over the phone with my prepaid cards?
    Yes, you may. Shopping online and over the phone are just two of the tremendous benefits of having a UBN prepaid cards NOTE: some internet merchants require you to verify your address before you may use the prepaid cards online.

    Please note for Mail Order / Telephone Order (MOTO) transactions some merchants may not accept a card for authorization unless the card is issued from a financial institution in the same country that the merchant is based.

 

  1. Will I get monthly account statement from the mail or post?

There are no paper statement sent to cardholders but instead, the cardholder can log on to the UBN programme  website at anytime using your card number and the PIN number to view the monthly statement or the entire transaction history.

  1. Can my prepaid card carry a negative balance?

Any authorisation request for an amount that is greater than the account  available balance will be declined and will attract a charge but however, occasionally, some merchants may not immediately send through an authorisation request, meaning that while the money has been spent with a merchant but the account has not yet been debited prior to making another purchase that is also authorised, there is a possibility that the account could hold a negative balance. If that happens, the cardholder will be notified immediately through the customer service centre of the shortfall and will be asked to add additional fund to avoid further charges. Also note that there is a minimum maintainable balance for all cards which affects available balance for use by cardholders during transactions.

  1. Are there transaction charges and limits on usage of the cards on a daily basis?

Yes, the cards have transaction charges on usage and limits to the amounts you can withdraw from your account on a daily basis. You can find the limits through the Authorised card provider through whom you obtained your card.

  1. What happens if I return something I purchased with my prepaid card?
    When you return something purchased with your prepaid cards, the merchant will credit the amount of the return to your card.
    Because returns are handled via the merchant's bank, credits may take up to 2-3 business days to appear in your account.

 

  1. What happens when my card expires?
    Before your card expires you should endeavour to request for a replacement. We may also send you a new one to activate and use. Renewal fee is applicable.
  1. What if I decide that I do not want my prepaid card anymore?
    If you decide you no longer want your prepaid card, simply bring your account balance to zero and notify us of your desire. We will verify that all funds have been returned to you and close your account after deducting all liabilities and charges thereto.

 

  1. What happens if my card gets lost or stolen?

If your card is lost or stolen, you must call the customer service help line or report it to any UBN branch close to you to be immediately deactivated. Or block your card through self care by clicking on the BLOCK CARD option.
